Learning Chess at Madison Square library July, 2006

This past summer Hattie Beverly Youth Development in partnership with Bruce Boman and Marionte' Jackson of Mars Bros. Mentoring hosted a chess club at the Madison Square branch of the Grand Rapids Public Library. It was a great success with over 30 students and a dozen adults showing up to play and learn to play chess. The summer ended with a 16 student tournament and travel chess sets and Target gift cards as prizes for the top 3 competitors. (visit our Flickr site here for more pictures)
